The previous Sister Rose Homeless Shelter on Eighth St. in Downtown New Bedford has a brand new proprietor.
The Southcoast LGBTQ Community not too long ago bought the constructing and plans to transform the construction right into a four-story neighborhood middle.
Community President Andrew Pollack visited Townsquare Sunday this week and stated the full price of the challenge is $800,000 and fundraising has already begun.

Pollack says renovations, together with the set up of an elevator and making the constructing extra accessible, will take two years to finish. The middle will function headquarters for the LGBTQ Community, a gathering area for the neighborhood, and way more.
Pollack additionally mentioned final month’s fifteenth anniversary of the vicious assault at Puzzles Lounge, a homosexual bar in New Bedford’s North Finish. He says New Bedford has undergone many adjustments since that horrible incident.
